Ideas into Action.

Thank you so much to the parents who already posted their comments here on this site. We are grateful to you and we need your support to demonstrate that we are a community also, and part of the Southwater community. This post has a summary of the ideas we discussed on Thursday 9th July, 2 days after the disappointing Horsham District Council meeting. Life, they say, is not about what happens to you, but about how you respond to what happens to you. So, how are we going to respond? Well, what if what has happened is for a reason?

“If you can conceive it, and you can believe it, you can achieve it!” (Napoleon Hill).

I believe those wise words were true, and remain so today. Napoleon Hill continues to inspire people to reach for their dreams. Give a dream a deadline and it becomes a vision. Put a vision into action and it becomes reality. Everything starts in our imagination.
So let’s imagine that we find a new home for the school in the next year, and let’s make it a great one.
I invite you all to contribute ideas to the list below, and to keep your eyes & ears open for any possible openings in or around the village. We are committed to providing a quality Montessori early years setting for your children!
Here’s the list of the possible action points we discussed at last week’s meeting:

Just a thought, but have you considered the IBM business park. It’s just a thought, but I get the feeling that they may have a spare building to let down there.

      Hi Tim,

Thank you on two counts: tidying up my messy formatting beautifully and making this suggestion. We will look into this avenue as well, a very helpful addition to the list :)

        Thea

I was inspecting the annual parish accounts yesterday and came across the under lease between yourself and the parish council. The copy I saw clearly stated that the end date for your lease is 28 August 2012, not 2011 as SPC have previously suggested. You may wish to check your copy. This would at least seem to give you another year.

        • Thea Bredie says:

          Dear Mr Fuller,

Thank you for taking care to check the details. This is something I should have done myself. I apologise for my omission. I was shocked to find out that the lease is indeed until August 2012.

All I can say to explain how this happened is the following: My memory tends to focus firmly on results and achievements. Any struggles or delays in getting to those results I forget about almost immediately, and move on. This has happened frequently over my past fourteen ‘Montessori’ years, so as to almost become an unconscious habit. Normally this serves me well, but I am very sorry indeed to learn that, on this occasion, it appears that Southwater Parish Council are getting the blame for my omission.

The fault is entirely my own and I very much regret not having checked the detail. Thank you, once again, for pointing out that our lease is secure till August 2012.

          Best wishes,

          Thea Bredie.

Why don’t you approach the local Schools. Little Acorns operates in the grounds of Southwater Infants School and there may space at one of the other Schools in the village.

  3. Gemma Avery says:

Hi Thea, I went to the Southwater Family Centre for the first time today and it is lovely. I thought you may be able to borrow a morning there , particularly through the summer hols and maybe on your quieter days use some staff to take specific toys over there and promote the nursery. Maybe hold a session for an 1hr to 1.5hrs, per week demonstrating some parts of the normal nursery day. It would also be an idea to ask a couple of parents to bring there children as well just so they could talk to the parents. Maybe that could be done a rota basis. If not the family centre, then maybe at the nursery setting itself. I think this is something that could be set up quickly, entertain peoples children over the hols and get some business and promotion in the process.
Also, would the council be more swayed if people started a petition – it seems to be working with the housing project??
