In August 2012, the lease on the current premises for the Southwater Montessori School will expire, and we have learned that it will not be renewed. As the only independent pre-school in the village to offer flexible hours all year ’round, this school is an extremely valuable resource for the community, and would be sorely missed.
The parish council put forward Easteds Barn (a community meeting room, which has been underused for years) as a location for the school, but the planning application was denied after local residents put up a significant campaign to block the proposal.
This site is part of a wider appeal to:
- Publicise the school, and drum up support to save it.
- Seek out an alternative premises among local landowners
